Both browsers worked again and no other known related issues. I ran Glary Utilties, ccleaner and Norton Utilities to look for registry errors, temp files, and other garbage. Then the same problem occurred again a few hours ago. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/459562/ie8-and-firefox-will-not-load-but-works-in-safe-mode-wnetworking-internet-is-on/

I'm guessing uninstalling the network controller and rebooting will bring up the new hardware found wizard upon reboot? Thanks. Then NIS updates, and same problem re-occurs. I re-installed NIS from disc (version 184.108.40.206) skipping the update before install, and did not have the balls to download any other updates.
So I am currently using an out of the box NIS 2013. I have internet explorer 8( it never worked since installation, always shows "No network connection") and Google chrome installed in my computer. I am NOT amused....hee, hee, hee... Fed up with Norton, as I usually have to reinstall it every 12 months for some reason or another.
Only reason I have IE installed is so that I can get the updates from MS. Firefox is set to use system proxy settings, tried " no proxy" , didn't work, checked windows and Mcaffey firewalls, didn't find anything that should be blocking it. Hopefully Norton will fix this problem soon. If you accept cookies from this site, you will only be shown this dialog once! You can press escape or click on the X to close this box.
