I've also scoured the net, finding tidbits to things to check. how can it be enabled/disabled?The strange thing is that I did had not changed anything about the config. It might be disabled on your Windows 7.Do an ipconfig /all and check for Netbios enabled/disabled. As I cannot ping a server by it's name, it seems to me than the problem is at a more basic level.
